To Race Or Not
My Medium feed is filled with stories of how people got their hundred followers in two days or two weeks or 24 hours. I had been a member of Medium for two years and my total earnings from the medium partner program is $5. I am not a consistent writer for medium. The new MPP email made me think about continuing on this platform. Is money the only reason I am a member of medium? Should I run this race? I see that I am about 40 followers shy of reaching 100.
I gave a hard look at the statistics of my stories. Before I got 60 followers I had around 30 followers and that number was stagnant for a while. But the number of views my articles got was definitely beyond 30. The read ratio was somewhere between 45% and 77% which is a wide range but it depended on the topic. The v read ratio was higher for Software Engineering topics, for all other topics it was around 45%. Its not a rewarding performance till date. So should I join the race for 100 followers before 31st December.
What is the alternative though?I don’t even imagine that I will gain any sizeable monetary benefit from MPP. But having a 100 or more engagers would be quite nice. You make my day when you say something nice about my articles. I enjoy reading experiences similar as well as poles apart from mine. I write to feel useful, to feel good, to leave a mark when I am gone.
